Hypocrisy

The Swedish <a href="http://www.last.fm/tag/death%20metal" class="bbcode_tag" rel="tag">death metal</a> band Hypocrisy was formed by <a href="http://www.last.fm/music/Peter+T%C3%A4gtgren" class="bbcode_artist">Peter T&auml;gtgren</a> in 1990 upon his return to Sweden from Florida, where he had been inspired by that state's flourishing death metal scene (bands like <a href="http://www.last.fm/music/Morbid+Angel" class="bbcode_artist">Morbid Angel</a>, <a href="http://www.last.fm/music/Deicide" class="bbcode_artist">Deicide</a>, <a href="http://www.last.fm/music/Death" class="bbcode_artist">Death</a> and <a href="http://www.last.fm/music/Obituary" class="bbcode_artist">Obituary</a>). Hypocrisy's first demo was recorded entirely by Tägtgren himself; once it secured him a record deal, he recruited a lineup of <a href="http://www.last.fm/music/Masse+Broberg" class="bbcode_artist">Masse Broberg</a> (Vocals), <a href="http://www.last.fm/music/Jonas+%C3%96sterberg" class="bbcode_artist">Jonas &Ouml;sterberg</a> (Guitar), <a href="http://www.last.fm/music/Mikael+Hedlund" class="bbcode_artist">Mikael Hedlund</a> (Bass) and <a href="http://www.last.fm/music/Lars+Sz%C3%B6ke" class="bbcode_artist">Lars Sz&ouml;ke</a> (Drums), while he himself settled on guitar.

There is more than one artist with this name: 1)DEVIANT from Denver, CO USA. The meshing of rock guitar riffs, electronic melodies, and driving industrial drums were the initial factors behind the building of the electro-rock trio, Deviant. Formed in 2002 by vocalist/lyricist London, multi-talented musicians D' MacKinnon and Marcus "Daisho" Wilkerson, Deviant immediately garnered a local following in Denver after their first live performances and album release. Deviant successfully merged the modern sounds of electronic music with accessable songwriting and emotional lyrical content.

Super Fun Happy Slide is a grindcore band from Australia. Formed in 2005, Super Fun Happy Slide quickly rose to the top of the legendary Heywood grindcore scene with their combination of hardline straight-edge politics and their progressive melodic song writing. After the departure of founding member M. Sanchez, the band relocated to Melbourne City and changed their sound to a more Napalm Death influenced blend of Napalm Death and Napalm Death.

Meshuggah, whose name is taken from the Hebrew and Yiddish word for “crazy”, is a five-piece band from Umeå, Sweden, founded in 1987. The band's style is most easily described as extreme/technical metal with some jazz influence. They use extended polymetric passages, complex drum patterns, angular, dissonant guitar riffs, and harsh vocals. Their lineup has always been consistent, apart from bass which has been handled by many people since the band’s inception.
