Forming in 2008, the Statics wasted no time getting things started - writing, recording and releasing a debut album by mid 2008 (CandyPants Records), which was then followed by hundreds of hours in a 12 seater van playing every pub, club, radio station, school, dive, all ages festival and house party possible. “We didn’t want to play it safe. We didn’t just wanna be another ‘myspace’ or ‘weekend’ band. We figured fuck it! Lets record an album, get in the van and sell some discs and if we’re lucky a t-shirt or two!” bassist Pat McKenna explains.

Direct Influence is one of Australia’s premier reggae acts. Described as a mixture of the deep rooted reggae of the Wailers, the sounds of Che Fu and a little Damian Marley, Direct Influence create a fusion of Hip Hop and Roots Reggae whilst also encompassing the hearty soulful music carrying messages of peace and hope. After four years of non-stop touring with stage partner Phatchance, Sydney’s Luke Girgis aka Coptic Soldier has travelled the country on sold out national tours supporting artists such as Bliss n Eso, The Potbelleez, The Herd, Drapht, Pez, The Funkoars, Pegz, Muph n Plutonic and Phrase as well as international heavy weights Method Man and Redman, De La Soul and Planet Asia. In 2009 he launched his street release ‘The Past Three Years Diary’ to a capacity crowd at the popular Oxford Art Factory in Sydney.
