dead prez is a hip-hop duo from the United States, composed of stic.man and M-1, and formed in 1996 in New York. They are known for their sometimes confrontational style, combined with socialist lyrics focused on both militant social justice, and also positivity. The duo maintains an ethical stance against corporate control over the media, especially hip-hop record labels.

Born in Cape Town, South Africa on November 26, 1976, the daughter of South African jazz musicians (her father and mother are the celebrated musicians Sathima Bea Benjamin and Abdullah Ibrahim), she studied Vocal Performance at the LaGuardia School of Music & Art before majoring in Music Business at New York University. Born and Raised in the Northern Suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia. KidCrusher started rapping in 1996 recording on cassettes and PC programs and also attempting his dream of being a vocalist in a Death Metal Band.

He first became known to the mainstream hip-hop community in 2005 when he appeared on Kanye West's album Late Registration on the track "Touch the Sky." In 2006 Lupe released his debut album, Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor on Atlantic Records, and in December 2007 he released his second full length album, Lupe Fiasco's The Cool.

NON PHIXION (pronounced non-fiction) was a hardcore hip-hop group formed in 1995 in Brooklyn, New York. It consisted of three MCs — Ill Bill, Sabac Red, and Goretex — plus DJ Eclipse. Ill Bill and Goretex are considered to be along with a few other key figures responsible for orchestrating the booming and highly popular "Underground Rap" scene in New York City in the early nineties. The group was originally formed in 1995 by Ill Bill and MC Serch of 3rd Bass fame after many years of Bill, Goretex and Necro working together as a unit after growing up together in Glenwood Projects...

Black Milk

There are multiple artists with this name: Black Milk, is a hip hop producer and MC Curtis Cross from Detroit, Michigan. In 2004 he formed B.R. Gunna with Young RJ, and Fat Ray, and together they released Dirty District: Vol. 2, a follow up to a compilation released in 2001 by Slum Village, which he had contributed production to. Black Milk released a solo album, Sound of the City, the following year and in 2006 he signed a record contract with Fat Beats Records. In the fall of 2006, he released an EP, entitled Broken Wax. March 13, 2007 he released a second album, Popular Demand.
