Post-rock instrumental trio Badinage will be launching Mustang, the first single from their forthcoming full-length album, at a special George Lane matinee session. Mustang is the latest instalment in the Badinage garage lounge soundscape of lush multi-instrumental tunes blending elements of psychedelia, smoky jazz, lazy grunge and rock.
The guitar-driven ambient music of Badinage draws a hazy, atmospheric line from the early psychedelia of Jimi Hendrix, Peter Green and Pink Floyd, through the 90s jazz-tinged slowcore of Spain, to the turn-of-the-century post-rock of groups such as Dirty Three, Mogwai and Sigur Rós.
"Badinage paint a massive pulsating sonic painting in their music: glittering, shining and anthemic with an instrumentation that recalls the music of bands like Died Pretty with the emotional impact and pulse quickening thrills of Sigur Rós or Mogwai." Backseat Mafia EP Review 8.5/10
Badinage are: Simon Capp (Rhythm Pigs, Blue Ruin), Dave Reid (Speedway, The Likely Lads, Yard Dogs) and Matt Omond (Cactus, Still Life Clowns, The Ayatollahs). Meander and the forthcoming album were recorded and produced by Phill Calvert (The Boys Next Door/The Birthday Party, Psychedelic Furs, Blue Ruin).
There's a certain kind of scenic and cinematic melancholia in the sound of Badinage—immersive, evocative, hypnotic music for the mind, body and soul.
