Jimmy Edgar

Jimmy Edgar is the poster child of sound couture. He dropped studies in fashion and design to concentrate on making music, has a background in art production and style. He snatches influences from his native Detroit: its decay, its fashion and its eclectic music scene. Edgar has been stitching beats since he was 10, when he produced sounds electronically and fashioned his first analogue pieces. He was influenced mostly by jazz, funk, street beat and R&B in his early years. Edgar began his career by playing the drums in experimental bands and by making tape recordings.

Prince Rama

Spawned from the vernal heat of the Florida swamps amidst swirling patterns of pine orchards and pre-Columbian artifacts, Prince Rama was whispered into the ears of Taraka Larson, Nimai Larson, and Michael Collins in the summer of 2007 by the clanging of prayer bells and goat-skin drums. They left the Hare Krishna farm where they were staying to go to art school and form a creative nucleus in Boston.

Grizzly Bear

Grizzly Bear is an indie/folk rock band from Brooklyn, New York. Their music uses melody and ambiance in conjunction with hazy-eyed choruses, whistles, piano, banjo, and several woodwind instruments. Grizzly Bear was originally the solo project of Edward Droste (vocals/guitar), who recorded his debut album Horn Of Plenty at home. The record was originally meant for his friends, but it eventually circulated and got a proper release in 2004, this time with the help of Christopher Bear (drums/vocals). A re-release with a bonus disc of remixes was issued in 2005.

EMA

There are 2 artists named EMA: 1) EMA is Erika Anderson of the recently broken up long running American west-coast band Gowns. Using solo guitar, piano, voice and tape collage her music could not be blessed with more heartfelt beauty, it seems almost impossible the amount of intimate feeling in the sounds, taking on the piece of music as an instrument in and of itself to accompany Erika's amazing voice and lyrics.
