Petering out since 2002, and now mostly in their 30s, 'Toxic' as they're affectionately known to their fans have to perform under the additional strain of sore joints, disease and degenerative brain issues. The indie four-piece flew overseas in 2008 to play the Great Escape Festival in the UK after Martin Elbourne (former agent of New Order, The Smiths) immediately confirmed City Riots after watching the band perform just a few weeks beforehand. The band was part of a stellar line-up including The Wombats, Vampire Weekend and The Futureheads, as well as playing sideshows at the Camden Barfly and the International Pop Festival in Liverpool.
From day one it’s been clear that In Fiction has been destined for big things. Formed in 2005, the five young lads from Adelaide have taken next to no time to build a solid reputation in their hometown. From sold out shows in some of the towns larger rooms, to stealing the crowd (and adoration from fans that knew every word) on supports of big International and National artists, they quickly became the band to keep an eye on in Adelaide.
We Are The In Crowd didn’t require much time to live up to their name.
Formed in 2009 and signed by Hopeless Records shortly after, this is a band that had all their dominoes poised and ready to fall in their favor in quick succession. Armed with an irresistible combo of male and female vocals, the handful of vibrant songs the group have released are only tastes of what’s on the horizon.
Vintage Trouble, based in Los Angeles, is the brainchild of Ty Taylor (vocal) and Nalle Colt (guitar). Combining their love for original soul and rhythm & blues, the two set up a basic home studio in Venice Beach and started crafting the beginnings of Vintage Trouble. Already a friend of both, Rick Barrio Dill (bass) came along and added his shared bass influences and energy into the newly formed project.

What has become of Heartbreak Club (HBC)? Once a straight-up parody of angst-ridden pop, HBC are rapidly becoming Australia's beacon of hope for Geek Rock; spearheading a new wave of 1990's inspired intelligent, ironic and self-deprecating punk-infused tunes. In doing so, HBC have recorded a new, darker and grittier album that is 'unapologetically melodic; adopting a brutally honest, confessional and grungier tone' than previous efforts, with the band noting their admiration for Weezer, Regurgitator, Blink 182 and Nirvana. They are still geeks, however.
Ash Wednesday is an Australian musician, who played in Jab, The Models and Einstürzende Neubauten. Wednesday formed an Australian punk rock band in Adelaide in January 1976. The band's original lineup consisted of Bohdan X (Bodhan Kubiakowski) on guitar and vocals, Wednesday playing bass guitar, synthesizer and tapes, and Johnny Crash (Janis Friedenfelds) on drums and vocals. The band took its name from the first initials of the founding members. The band relocated to Melbourne in August 1977.
