Alternative Rock

Hole

There are two artists known as Hole: 1) the American alternative rock band fronted by Courtney Love, and 2) a British experimental project active in the late 1980s. 1) Hole is an American alternative rock band that initially formed in Los Angeles, California in 1989 by vocalist/rhythm guitarist Courtney Love and guitarist Eric Erlandson. The band went through various lineups through the subsequent decades before its dissolution in 2002, but is now currently fronted by Courtney Love, with lead guitarist Micko Larkin (formally of Larrikin Love)...

The Classic Crime

The Classic Crime is a Seattle-based alternative rock band. They released their Tooth & Nail debut album, 'Albatross', in 2006. It marked the fastest first-week sales for a new artist in the history of T&N. The band members are Matt MacDonald (vocals), Justin DuQue (guitar), Robert "Cheeze" Negrin (guitar), Alan Clark (bass), and Paul "Skip" Erickson (drums). While touring in support of their full-length album Albatross, the band created the Acoustic EP: Seattle Sessions, which was simply a compilation of songs they created while on the road.

Artist Type:

Intercooler

A Mexican guitar was the catalyst for the formation of Intercooler in 2001. Had it been made in the US, perhaps the story would read a little differently. Jaded by the ‘struggling artist’ cliché, Joel Potter (bass) hung up his instrument and pissed off to the UK, perhaps resigned to the fact that running around in circles for the sake of music wasn’t worth it. Meanwhile, back in Oz, vocalist and guitarist Phil Ballantyne was getting restless.

Artist Type:

VersaEmerge

VersaEmerge was formed by former drummer Anthony Martone and guitarist/vocalist Blake Harnage back when both members were in high school. Although the duo instantly experienced regional success selling out their first ever gig and gaining critical acclaim in their local music scene, it wasn’t until the band solidified their line-up—which currently includes guitarist Harnage and vocalist Sierra Kusterbeck—that things really started happening for this dedicated group of young adults.

Artist Type:

Handsome

When five pieces from the splintered membership of hardcore's most influential '90s outfits came together, Handsome was formed and the songwriting, textural, and creative limits of an entire genre of rock music were expanded to a previously unimaginable degree. At its center, Handsome was directed by former Helmet guitarist Peter Mengede. While not officially credited as the group's songwriter, Mengede's very identifiable riffs and song structures seem to be a musical basis for Handsome's music.
