Gathering one dark winters day, Bedroom Scientist was recorded in a single session to a soviet era 8 track tape machine by the enigmatic Henry Jenkins in the same decrepit attic that spawned records by The Cactus Channel and Karate Boogaloo. This, Hallowed Horn’s first EP, “Bedroom Scientist” features four tracks, one original and three covers ("1 thing" by Amarie, Portishead’s “Wandering Star” and “War Pigs” from Black Sabbath), and can be best summarised as funk, dark and groovy. The sole original track “Bedroom Scientist” is almost assuredly a cut down of a go-to live track designed to get heads nodding and dance-floors bumping. A mere taste of what Hallowed Horns will give you at a live show. There is clearly a love here for improvisation, orchestration and heavy grooves. What the Hallowed Horns have accomplished is so impressive as these three loves do not often marry well. Everything is perfectly on the verge of explosion as they try to keep the lid on a boiling cauldron of ingredients that are frequently fighting each other for dominance. Formed on All Hallows Eve as the dead rose for their annual earthly outing, Hallowed Horns were gathered to provide the party soundtrack. Now, here on the Earthen plane to stay, they exist to make us regular folk dance, move and stop and stare in awe of their brand of horn based party anthems. They are the dead's marching band and the dead like to party. Hallowed Horns feature a collection of incredible musicians from Melbourne brass royalty. Members of The Melbourne Ska Orchestra, Dela Caye, Copperhead Brass Band, Ausecuma Beats and Rua.
