Perth based Red Jezebel formed in 1997, taking their name from a code-word utilised in a local supermarket chain, the original four-piece consisting of Paul Wood (Vocals & Guitar), Chris Hayes (Guitar), Mark Cruickshank (Bass) & Alex Hyman (Drums). In November 2004 the band parted on good terms with a newly-wed Chris Hayes and guitar duties were taken on by WAMI award-winning producer Dave Parkin (Snowman, Bob Evans, The Panda Band, The Exploders).
It’s no secret that the landscape of Birds of Tokyo’s home of Western Australia; a desert-like state so vast and unforgiving that to provide it with a soundtrack requires a higher level of grandeur and majesty one would ever dare associate with the ‘pop’ music tag. The Panics are a band from Perth, Western Australia who started out while Jae Laffer (singer /guitarist & keyboards) and Drew Wootton (Guitar) were still at high school. They added Drew's younger brother Myles Wootton on drums, Paul Otway (Bass) and Julian Douglas (Keyboard/ Guitar and Vocals) soon after. They were signed to the UK-based label LittleBIGMAN Records, a label set up by Pete Carroll and Gaz Whelan co founder of The Happy Mondays.
