By age six she was locking herself in her dad’s Chevy and singing along to The Doors. Experimentation with piano and guitar soon led to formal lessons while the discovery at age fourteen of the talents of Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Blind Melon and Nirvana unearthed an obsession with innovative vocal styles. Solo performances at variety shows eventually lead to a gig as lead vocalist/rhythm guitar player for indie pop quartet Q.
Darren Sylvester is an accomplished Melbourne visual artist and photographer turning his efforts to brilliant 80's inspired synth pop. He draws much inspiration from New Order, but there is much to be found in his self titled debut album such as the heartbraking wall of sound tribute found in the song 'Phil Spector'. Darren will be one to watch in 2010 having gone relatively undiscovered in 2009 which is amazing given the man has such talent.
Neon Love originated from the dark depths of Ballarats sweet ass music community. Over the past two and a half years Neon Love have developed their repertoire of music through adapting different genres of music and various cliche'd teenage life experiences like girls, parties, no doze, cough meds, sneaking out late at night, holding hands, love and lust and all that lame stuff. They have trashed their equipment at various notable snobby private schools and copped a lot of sh*t from a certain w*nker named Toff (apparently a joy division fan, but cant take it when some one convulses on stage).
The Snowdroppers came together in the third quarter of 2007, a group of fucked up misfits and STD carriers with one thing in common; the desire to introduce the blues to a new generation of fans. Realising they were in fact four clean-limbed honkeys, they decided to mix things up a little, which seemed to work in their favour, as their first ever show drew 1300 paying audience members. Of the 1300, only half asked for their money back – thanks in part...
