Electro-dance-slide_didg-slide guitar-flute-drums. I just heard these guys live at the Newtown Festival, Sydney, for the first time ever this weekend. They came down from the sunshine coast - north of Brisbane, where the tropical heat has obviously had a good influence on them. Sometimes dreamy and slow, sometimes upfront crowdpleasing pumpers - these guys rock! With four studio albums, OKA shows a wide variety in their music. Absolutely mind blowing. OKA is also a pop group from Finland.
Road to Ransome was spawned in mid-2010, when Nath contacted Jake to begin a metal/hardcore band. Charlie joined on bass, and Ben was discovered screaming Parkway Drive songs at a random house party. Bec and Sam joined from the band We Are Dreamers, on keys and rhythm respectively, to give the band their unique, catchy-yet-brutal sound!
Jack Ladder (b.1983) is the alias of Tim Rogers, a songwriter, musician and artist from Sydney, Australia. His music is characterised by his baritone voice and poignant observations on love and death. His songs often feature a black humour and deeply personal revelations.
He has released three albums "Not Worth Waiting For" (2006), "Love is Gone" (2008) and "Hurtsville" (2011) . An alternative version of songs from Love Is Gone "Counterfeits" was self released in 2009. Love is Gone was short listed for the Australian Music Prize and won the Red Bull Music Award. It was also selected Album of the Year by Who Weekly magazine.
His live shows are a constant reinvention, involving improvisation and deconstruction of his own material. Early shows were strictly acoustic featuring cello and upright bass. This was followed by a long period of electric trio and full band shows. He is currently performing with vintage drum machines, delays and the guitar sonics of Kirin J Callinan (Mercy Arms). His live band, The Dreamlanders, regularly features Laurence Pike (PVT, Triosk) on drums. Though evolving and experimental his performances are always passionate.
Ladder has toured and opened for artists as diverse as John Cale, Wolfmother, Feist, Bill Callahan and Okkervill River for whom he contributed to The Stand Ins (2008). He features on the live Bill Callahan record "Rough Travel For A Rare Thing" (2010) playing bass guitar.

Every man in Australian folk punk band THE RUMJACKS has done his time in mud and slime and torn up rooms and soggy carpets in all four corners of The Colonies. All 'Jacks' have served with honour and infamy in various rock bands, rockabilly outfits, Celtic ensembles and combinations thereof. There is no need here to dribble off the details, but their belts jangle with the beaded scalps and stolen trinkets of many a campaign.
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia based True Live formed in 2003. They're a unique ensemble that cross boundaries of genre and style while engaging audiences with songs of passion and meaning. With performances and recordings of musical and lyrical depth and a line-up consisting of a three-piece string section (cello, violin, double bass), percussion, keyboards and vocals, the group create a contemporary, organic sound that could only be described as monstrous.
