Rodrigo y Gabriela

Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero are two fast-fingered Mexicans with a unique sound created on acoustic guitars. Their music is difficult to define, straddling both world and rock and often imbued with timeless Hispano – classical influences. The fire in it comes from their life-long passion for metal music. In spring 2006, “Rodrigo y Gabriela,” beat both the Arctic Monkeys AND Johnny Cash to number one in the Irish charts. Both the artists and their third self–titled album have gone on to enjoy international success since its initial release in early 2006.

Yamandu Costa

Yamandu Costa (Passo Fundo, January 24, 1980) is a Brazilian guitarist and composer. His main instrument is the "violão de 7 cordas", the Brazilian seven-stringed nylon guitar. Yamandu began to study the guitar at seven years of age with his father, Algacir Costa, leader of the group Os Fronteiriços (The Frontiersmen) and mastered the instrument after studying under Lúcio Yanel, an Argentine virtuoso rooted in Brazil. At fifteen he studied the folk music of Southern Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay.

Kronos Quartet

Kronos Quartet is a string quartet founded by violinist David Harrington in 1973. Since 1978, the quartet has been based in San Francisco, California. The longest-running combination of performers (1978–1999) had Harrington and John Sherba on violin, Hank Dutt on viola and Joan Jeanrenaud on cello. Jennifer Culp replaced Jeanrenaud on cello in 1999. Jeffrey Zeigler replaced Culp on cello in 2005.

Holy Fuck

Holy Fuck is an electronic rock band based in Toronto, Canada. Their current line-up includes original and core members Brian Borcherdt and Graham Walsh along with Matt Schulz on drums and Matt McQuaid on bass. Holy Fuck uses live drums and bass along with a myriad of toy keyboards, guitar pedals, mixers and even a 35mm film synchronizer to mimic modern electronic music, consciously avoiding modern fail-safes like laptops and programmed backing tracks. This Is Your Captain Speaking

This Is Your Captain Speaking are a post-rock instrumental group from Victoria, Australia. The debut album from 'This Is Your Captain Speaking' Storyboard was released independently in Australia in May 2005. Clocking in at just under 66 minutes, the album's seven tracks were recorded live in a primary school library. The first pressing of Storyboard has sold out, but the album is being re-issued on UK label Resonant.
