Breanne Düren (born Breanne Elizabeth Durenberger on October 8, 1987) is an American singer from Burnsville, Minnesota. She is best known for being a part of Adam Young's music project Swimming With Dolphins, and for her work with Owl City. She can be heard on the songs "The Saltwater Room", "On The Wing" and "Air Traffic" by Owl City. She is also featured on the songs "Summer" and "Take Me Home Tonight" by Jamestown Story. Breanne Düren released a self-titled full-length album in 2008. Her upcoming EP entitled "Sparks" is coming out on May 3rd and is available for pre-sale on her website.
Xavier Rudd (born 1978) is a soulful Australian surf/roots artist from Torquay, Victoria, which is near the famous surfing location, Bells Beach. Rudd's music is compassionate and always manages to render emotion in his fans. His songs include stories of the mistreatment of the indigenous people of his homeland; they tell of humanity, spirituality or the environment. The songs are written and sung with compassion and they urge the celebration of life.
Lydia Cole is a 21-year-old songwriter from the North Shore of Auckland. Her lyrics are born purely of experience. Lydia sees herself and her music as advocates for honesty. Her brand new EP 'Love Will Find A Way' was recorded with talented musicians such as Jol Mulholland (The Mots, Gasoline Cowboy), Nick Gaffaney (Anika Moa) and Neil Finn. Carus Thompson is the vocalist, guitarist and songwriter of the Australian reggae band Carus and The True Believers. Carus was born in Fremantle, Australia in 1976. He developed a taste for music at a young age and began playing musical instruments at 12 years of age. By the time he turned 18 Carus was making a living out of performing and so he began the band, Carus and The True Believers. Carus describes his music as being a mix of roots, folk, reggae, and funk, though in a recent interview pointed out he would like his music to be known mainly as "Australian.
Ben Kweller was born in San Francisco, CA in 1981. In 1982 his family relocated to Emory, TX where his father Howard Kweller became the town's first doctor. In 1986, The Kwellers moved to a much larger city, Greenville, TX. Ben was exposed to music at a very early age. Howard taught Ben how to play the drums when he was 7 years old. For the next year, the father and son would jam together almost every night after Howard got home from work.
Michael Kiwanuka is a British musician of Ugandan heritage who writes songs combining soul and rootsy folk influences and sings them with a deep, husky soulful voice. The Home Again Songfacts says that after signing with Communion Records, Kiwanuka recorded his debut EP, Tell Me A Tale, with the help of Paul Butler from The Bees, who took the Muswell Hill, London native to his Isle of Wight studio to record the songs.
Kath Bloom was born and raised in New Haven, CT, where she learned to play guitar among the headstones of her local cemetery. She met avant-garde guitarist Loren Mazzacane Connors in 1976 and together they recorded six limited edition albums of fragile folk and blues melodies between 1981 and 1984.
After her collaborations with Connors, Kath entered a period of child-rearing and family life, returning to recording in the early 90s. Director Richard Linklater discovered Bloom's music and featured her song Come Here in a pivotal scene in his 1995 film Before Sunrise.
The Boy Who Trapped The Sun, funnily enough, is not his real name. Colin MacLeod - for it is he- was discovered swinging round the rafters of an Aberdeen bar, dishing out Deep Purple covers and, he says, “generally acting like an arse.” Having smashed his guitar and knocked himself unconscious on stage, he set to cleaning up both the broken instrument and his act. Thus The Boy moved to London; to become a solo artist and an adult. And so emerged a record - due out this summer - full of strange, sometimes sinister stories: equally inspired by home, Hemingway, ghosts and ex-girlfriends.
Kathryn Dawn Lang, OC (born November 2, 1961), better known under her stage name, k.d. lang, is a Grammy Award-winning Canadian singer and songwriter. She is regarded as one of Canada's foremost female vocalists, as well as a champion of legal equality for LGBT people. Her singing talent has lent itself to a wide range of genres, although earlier works, such as 'Angel With a Lariat' and 'Absolute Torch and Twang' (the last of which won her a Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance) were predominantly country, with hints of jazz and salsa.
