Philip Glass

Philip Glass (born January 31, 1937) is a composer from the United States. His music is frequently described as minimalist, though he prefers to describe himself as a composer of "music with repetitive structures". Although his early, mature music is minimalist, he has evolved stylistically. Currently, he describes himself as a "Classicist", pointing out that he is trained in harmony and counterpoint and studied Franz Schubert, Johann Sebastian Bach and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with Nadia Boulanger.

There are at least four bands with this name, one is an ethereal post-dreampop band based in Australia, the second is a Canadian band that plays filk and folk music, the third a 70s funk outfit, and the fourth a jazz / pop unit from Latvia: 1) Dandelion Wine are an ethereal post-dreampop band that while based in Melbourne Australia, inhabit a very different world. A world where the centuries bleed into one another to create a seamless whole.

Max Waves

Check out the new album "Music for Microworlds"! Born in Treviso in March 1969, at the age of six Max Waves started studying the piano through private lessons, before entering the conservatory "B. Marcello" in Venezia in 1980.
A lifelong passion for computers and technology in general soon led him to prefer the study of the synthesizer rather than classical exercises to the point where he inevitably abandoned his academic studies and dedicated himself totally to electronic music.

Brisbane, Australia. Restream is a producer creating shoegaze lofi post-rock. Though there are ideas from laptop music, glitch and abstract hip hop, this album is about songs, epics more often than not, with a firm focus on harmonies and textures more than the intricacies of beat science. His debut release "Loopsforstereogram" corresponds to a computer artist wringing life out of computers, repeating the improvised, integrating the indie record collection with the electronic.

There are at least eight artists sharing the name Mono; The name is used by a Japanese post-rock band, a British trip-hop band, a Dutch post-rock band, a female Austrian reggae artist, a Swedish trance artist, a Korean pop ballad trio, a Polish hip-hop band and a new Dutch indie rock band.
_____________________ Japanese: Mono are a post-rock group from Tokyo, Japan formed in 1999. The songs, all of which are instrumental, are usually focused on layered guitar melodies. Strings and pianos are also prominently featured in some songs.

Grouper

Grouper is the solo project for ambient musician Liz Harris, of Portland, Oregon. Harris' music is a mixture of softly-strummed guitar, Wurlitzer keys, and her delicate, dreamy vocals, all of which are heavily drenched in reverb. Harris’ first album was 2005’s Grouper, a self-released full-length CD-R, followed later that year by Way Their Crept on Free Porcupine (re-released in 2007 on Type Records). Other recordings include 2006's He Knows, released as a 3" CD, the 12" Weird Forest release Wide in 2007, and a 7" called Tried.

Zola Jesus

Zola Jesus is the endeavor of a solitary girl named Nika Roza Danilova to simultaneously combat and invoke the approaching apocalypse using the only weapon/offering she has: her voice. After a decade of opera study and a musical awakening involving such varied inspiration as Billboard bubblegum, classical arias, no wave, avant industrial, she was able to thread her influences into a sound uniquely her own.

Jamie Woon is a 25 year old singer-songwriter from Clapton, North-East London, whose sound lies between the usually distinct genres of alternative rock and soul music. His sound envelopes influences and elements as diverse as those of Jeff Buckley, Jamie Liddell, Sade, Sanatana and Meshell Ndegeocello. The recently enrolled rhythm section of a musically liberated and telepathically connected bass player and drummer both named Dan, are to Jamie Woon what Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchel were to Jimi Hendrix.
