The best songs don’t just tell a story set to music – they capture a moment, encapsulate a feeling and draw in the listener, in a way that’s at once singularly personal and completely universal. When Toronto singer-songwriter Jason Collett was mulling over titles for his new album, the by-turns effervescent and elegiac Here’s To Being Here, he stumbled across a line in an anthology of poetry by his friend Emily Haines’ (Metric) late father Paul, a well-known avant-garde jazz poet.

Youri Blow (b. 1981) is a French folk singer-songwriter. He was born on 6th March 1981 in Troyes, France. After a number of experiences in pyschedelic blues rock bands in the tradition of Pink Floyd, the Doors, and Santana, at the age of twnty-one Blow decided to go to Peru for two months. Once back in France, he took to the road solo, inspired by the "mercenary troubadours" of the Delta blues, whose music he began to infuse with the feelings he had of Peru -- a blend he calls Psychéblues.

Cosmo Jarvis is going to be a big deal. He is a complete package; an accomplished filmmaker, a brilliant composer and an exceptional live performer. With over 270 songs and 65 films under his belt, he clearly understands the modern media climate and the interplay between different artistic disciplines. At the tender age of twenty-one, his unflappable drive and unwavering self-confidence resounds in everything he does.

Jess’ growing live set brims with subtle, resilient melodies, and savvy, considered lyrics. They not only drive, but are also suggested by, the vocal melodies. Her songs are crafted like poems, little machines of intelligence, love, melancholy desire and concision. While drawing on influences from well-known artists like Leonard Cohen, Elliott Smith and Cat Power, Jess has developed her own assured and confident voice that takes these artists’ work as a point of departure rather than an ideal to be achieved. She’s very much her own artist.
