Half noise, half folk - khancoban’s songs deploy in low-gravity and with a dash of grit. They are performed calmly, utilising calculated space and tension, exploding at key points that leave the band’s filament still burning in their wake. The name khancoban is a hijacked car from a country town in the Snowy Mountains … its AM radio spilling out tunes by the likes of Wilco, Kingsbury Manx, The Clientele and Calexico – bands both influential and with kindred music. A Floridian of Cuban descent, Raul Malo started playing bass guitar while in high school and was a member of a small band playing the high school dance circuit. That band was known alternately as The Boys, The Tom Boys, and The Basics with Malo sharing vocal duties with guitarist, Tommy Anthony. In 1990, he became the vocalist for the four-man band, The Mavericks, for whom he penned most of the songs.

Lucinda Williams (born January 26, 1953) is an American rock, folk, and alt-country songwriter and singer. A three-time Grammy Award winner, she was named "America's best songwriter" by TIME magazine in 2002. Williams has garnered considerable critical acclaim but her commercial success has been moderate. She has a reputation as a perfectionist and as a slow worker when it comes to recording; six years passed between the release of her second and third albums. However, she frequently makes guest appearances on other artists' albums and contributes to compilations and soundtracks.

The Ghost Hotel began life as a three-piece pop-rock band back in 2005. Formed as a vehicle for the songs of former Team Jedi bassist and guitarist Aaron Gibson, the band brought on a mixture of rough and ready guitar noise, acoustic twang and pop sensibility. Boasting the formidable rhythm section of Jack Kennedy (Grand Central - Bass) and Steven Rea (The White Trash - Drums), the trio set ears pricking up around Perth and were soon supporting the likes of Bob Evans and Youth Group.
