The music of Kooii is unique, resting readily in a morphing Australian way of life. Their songs click with many, and the music is held dearly. Kooii breathe, roll and transform. They are a seven-piece collective with a ‘rootsy-tribal-groove’ that is both urban and earthy. Reggae, Jazz and Latin are realised in the sound. The group started some two and a half years ago as a duo of trumpeter Peter Hunt and percussionist Anthony Forrest (who both also play guitar). It has since grown to its present form.
Diplo and Switch certainly live the life. Hugely successful DJs/producers in their own right, last year they joined forces and headed to Jamaica to explore their Rasta roots. 1. Early 90's Reality from Salt Lake City, Utah was Chris Carlton - guitar, Trent Falcone - vocals, Brad Butterfield - bass, Justin Spencer - drums, & Spencer Jacobs - guitar. They played a style of hardcore similar to later Insight meets Outspoken.
2.Jonathan Michael McCarter, a.k.a. “Reality”, was born on June 15th 1990 to Michael and Claudia McCarter. Born in Augusta, GA he was moved around for most of his childhood, until he arrived in Miami, FL at the age of 9. His mother being from Chile had a big impact on the decision to relocate in Miami, due to the large Latin-American community.
Chris Murray is a Canadian-born singer-songwriter and guitarist working primarily in the genre of ska. In Canada, he was a member of the now-defunct ska band King Apparatus. He now lives in the Los Angeles, California area, where he performs regularly, both solo as well as with the Chris Murray Combo. Murray has performed throughout North America, Europe, Japan, and South America, and released several CDs on the Asian Man Records label.
