The beautiful girls are an Australian band from the New South Wales coast composed of Mat McHugh on vocals and guitar, Paulie B on bass and Bruce Braybrooke on drums. TBG have released three full length albums: Learn Yourself, We're Already Gone and Ziggurats; as well as one EP, Morning Sun, TBG have an eclectic style of their own, with smatterings of rock, acoustic, reggae, pop and folk all through their music. Tahuna Breaks are an uplifting reggae / funk / soul band based in Auckland. They formed following inspiring jams that stretched from a garage in Onehunga to the remoteness of Piha on Auckland’s west coast. With influences varying from the likes of Marvin Gaye, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, James Brown, UB40 and New Zealand’s very own dub and reggae movement, Tahuna Breaks are a fine tune roots blend of funk and reggae with that distinctive New Zealand summery sound.
Maxi Priest (born Max Alfred Elliott on June 10, 1961) is a reggae singer from England. Career Of West Indian descent, and the second youngest of nine children, he was born in Lewisham, London. He is known as the 'King of Lovers Rock'. His music is sometimes closer to R&B, and pop, than to reggae music itself. His first major album was the self-titled Maxi Priest (1988) along with his cover of Cat Stevens' Wild World established him as one of the British reggae top singers this internationally acclaimed vocalist, is the only UK reggae act to score an American Billboard Number One.
Big Mountain are an American Reggae and Pop music act from San Diego, California, established in 1991. The band had a major hit in 1994 with a cover of Peter Frampton's "Baby I Love Your Way", which also featured in the soundtrack to the film Reality Bites. The follow-up single , "Sweet Sensual Love" reached number fifty-one in the UK, while Unity, the album it was on, went on to sell over a million copies worldwide. Their most recent album was Versions Undercover in 2008.
Fat Freddy's Drop is a 7 piece live Dub/Reggae band from Wellington, New Zealand. Founded in 2001, the current lineup consists of DJ Fitchie, Joe Dukie, Toby Chang, HoPepa, Chopper Reedz, Jetlag Johnson, and Dobie Blaze. The name "Fat Freddy's Drop" is a reference to a piece of blotter art that was circulating in the NZ dance scene in the late 90's. Fat Freddy's Drop have now released their second major studio album, Dr Boondigga & The Big BW - shipping GOLD on the first day of release on 26th May 2009.
I Blame Coco is headed by Coco Sumner (real name Eliot Pauline Styler Sumner), supported by Joy Joseph and Raphael Mann from Mr Hudson & The Library on drums and bass. According to the Caesar Songfacts, Sumner is the daughter of the musician Sting and actress Trudi Styler. In 2008 she signed with Island Records, and after sending time writing and recording in Sweden she released her debut single Caesar as I Blame Coco on February 1, 2010.
