Decoder Ring was formed in 2001, in Sydney, Australia. Original line-up consisted of Matt Fitzgerald ( keyboards, guitar) Geoff Towner (bass, El Mopa), Pete Kelly (guitar, Sea Life Park), Kenny Davis Jr (keyboards, piano, The Jackson Code, The Blackeyed Susans) & Thomas Schutzinger (drums). Original line-up recorded the EP "Spooky Action at a Distance" (2002) and album "Decoder Ring" (2002). Geoff Towner departed in 2003 and was replaced by Ben Ely (Regurgitator).
Sarah McLeod is the former frontwoman of Aussie rock band The Superjesus. McLeod is one of the best recognised women in the Australian music scene and is known for her enthusiastic and unique stage presence. She already has three ARIA awards and over 300,000 record sales to her name (from her Superjesus days), and has been to referred to as the "iconic aussie rock chic". McLeod, originally from Adelaide in South Australia, started singing in her late teens.
Since the creation of this band it’s been about the love of stoner rock and fun. We love Kyuss, we love chilling out and we love groovin’. After a few line up changes we've gotten together what we believe to be a strong musical force. Since acquiring a new singer, we've recorded a five track EP entitled, Stay For Tea. S3RL is the creator of song PRETTY RAVE GIRL and is an Australian DJ, specializes in Techno/Trace/UK hardcore, & Happy Hardcore genres. He has been known to do Remixes (most famous for his FER SURE Remix - originally by The Medic Droid and use samples of many songs - old and new. He also does alot more original tracks than remixes. The Waifs (originally styled as The WAiFS) are an Australian folk rock band formed in 1992 in Albany, Western Australia, by Josh Cunningham (guitar, vocals), and sistersVikki Thorn (née Simpson) (harmonica, guitar, vocals) and Donna Simpson (guitar, vocals). Their tour band includes Ben Franz (bass) and David Ross Macdonald (drums).
The band's 2003 album Up All Night reached the top five of the Australian Albums Chart, it achieved double platinum status and won four ARIA Awards in October. Two further top five albums were issued, Sun Dirt Water in 2007 and Temptation in 2011. The Waifs have three top fifty singles, "London Still" (2002), "Bridal Train" (2004) and "Sun Dirt Water". The band supported Bob Dylan on his 2003 Australian tour and then his 2003 North American tour, including a gig at the Newport Folk Festival.
The Waifs founded the independent label Jarrah Records in July 2002, co-owned with fellow musician John Butler, and their common manager Phil Stevens, which handles their Australian releases. Jordan and Ben first became mates when their mutual passion, in exploring and writing new music, yearned to be shared.
