DJ Shadow

Considered a prominent figure in the development of instrumental hip-hop, DJ Shadow (real name Josh Davis) has proven himself with groundbreaking, genre-defining solo output on such respected labels as Solesides and Mo' Wax. Although Shadow's earlier works, especially 'Endtroducing.....', are known for their innovation in genres such as hip-hop, ambient, and trip-hop, his latest album, The Outsider, had several tracks dedicated to Hyphy.

Decoder Ring was formed in 2001, in Sydney, Australia. Original line-up consisted of Matt Fitzgerald ( keyboards, guitar) Geoff Towner (bass, El Mopa), Pete Kelly (guitar, Sea Life Park), Kenny Davis Jr (keyboards, piano, The Jackson Code, The Blackeyed Susans) & Thomas Schutzinger (drums). Original line-up recorded the EP "Spooky Action at a Distance" (2002) and album "Decoder Ring" (2002). Geoff Towner departed in 2003 and was replaced by Ben Ely (Regurgitator).

Syntax

At least three artists share the name Syntax: 1) "Syntax" are a London based electronic duo formed by MIKE TOURNIER and Jan Burton in 2002. Mike Tornier is well known for his work as a 'groove technician' with 90s electronica setup "Fluke". Jan Burton (vocals), influenced by bands like "The Doors" and "Pink Floyd", calls himself 'Mr Five Piece Band and Guitars.' The first single "Pray" (2002) made top 30, was a dancefloor smasher and was leading them to a contract with the Illustrious label.

Vitalic (born as Pascal Arbez in 1976) is an electronic music artist. He was born in France and is of Italian descent. His first singles were released in 1996 and 1997, but were confined to the underground electronic music scene. He decided to make music when he heard Daft Punk's Rollin' & Scratchin' in a club in his hometown Dijon. He became good friends with Michel Amato, also known as The Hacker, whom he met in the Rex, the "techno temple" of Laurent Garnier. The Hacker suggested he send his new tracks to DJ Hell, head of Gigolo records in Munich.

As Breakbeat came into its own, FreQ Nasty's tunes remained ahead of the pack. Miss Kittin

Miss Kittin (real name Caroline Hervé) is an electro vocalist and DJ. She was born in Grenoble, France in 1973. At age 22 she began DJing, spinning records in France, Moscow and Chicago with Mike Dearborn. Soon after she met DJ Hell in Marseille who wanted her to record for his International DeeJay Gigolos label. She presented him with the EP Champagne that she recorded with The Hacker. Miss Kittin & The Hacker released First Album in 2001. Several tracks, such as 1982 and Frank Sinatra, became anthems of the electroclash scene.
